Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Fes – Ilfrane – Azrou – Midelt – Merzouga

For the first step of our 5 days tour, we will start heading south on our journey to the Sahara desert. But first, we will go through the Middle Atlas region where we will meet the town of Ifrane (known for its unique weather and Ski resorts), the Azrou cedar forests (populated by wild Macaque monkeys) and then the town of Midelt. After driving through the Tizin Talghamt mountain pass, you will notice the landscape will start turning into a more Saharian atmosphere, as we will reach the town of Errachidia where we will have lunch. While we are still there, we will get to visit the Al-Dakhil water dam, known for its gorgeous aqua-blue colored water. Then we will continue driving through the massive palm groves of Ziz Valley, where you might want to stop to take photographs of the landscape. Then after Erfoud, we will finally reach the town of Merzouga, the gateway of the Desert where we will have dinner and spend the night in a hotel.

Day 2: Merzouga area and the Camel Trek

Today is a special day because it will be full of desert adventures. The first one of those will be a drive through the desert dunes in 4×4 vehicles, through which you will get to explore the volcanic fossil rocks. After that we will try and find a nomad family, so that you can chat with them and learn more about their way of life. Next up we will stop by the village of Khamlia, where you can watch some live spiritual Gnaoua music playing. Our last activity for this morning will be a visit to the seasonal Serji lake, that attracts all sorts of wildlife and migrating birds, including the Pink Flamingo. Towards the late afternoon, we will start our ride through the desert dunes, in which you will get to explore panoramic views of the breathtaking sunset over the majestic dunes of Erg Chebbi. We will head to the desert camp (fully equipped with bathrooms) where we will spend an unforgettable night sleeping in Nomad tents, under the clear starry night sky.

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Tinghir – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges

After waking up in time to admire the beauty of the breathtaking desert sunrise, we will ride our camels back to the hotel at Merzouga to get a delicious breakfast and get the chance to shower. After that we will head to the Todra gorges where we will have lunch, after passing by Tinghir and Rissani.  We will then continue driving towards the beautiful Dades location where you will have dinner and spend the night (breakfast will also be provided).

Day 4: Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges – Roses Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate

Today our journey through the south continues as we visit the city Kalaat Mgouna, famous for being the Moroccan capital of Rose production. On our way there we will can make many stops to enjoy the beautiful landcapes of the Dades gorges. For lunch we will head to Skoura, where we can also visit the historical Kasbah Amerdil. Finally, we will reach our destination of the day, which is Ouarzazate city. There’s a lot to see in Ouarzazate, such as the local Kasbah of the city or the famous filming studio that the city is known for.

Day 5: Ouarzazate – Kasbah Ait Benhaddou – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

Today we will spend some time touring the very important filming studio of Ouarzazate, which is also called The Hollywood of Morocco. Then we will leave to finally head back to Marrakech. Driving through the Tizin Tichka mountain pass, we will take a lunch break at one of the Berber villages, then we will finally arrive at Marrakech. We will drop you off at your Riad, which marks the end of our services.
