10 Days Morocco Travel Around The Royal Cities And Chefchaouen

Tour Description:

During our tour, you will be able to visit all of the imperial cities of Morocco which used to serve as capitals before Rabat city, the current capital. The first one of these imperial cities will be Fez, which occupied the title of capital first during the Idrissed rule (from 9th to 10th century), then during the Merinid rule (13th, 14th, and 15th century). Besides Fez, we will visit the city of Marrakech which served as the capital for the Almohids (11th century), the Moravids (12th century) and the Saadiens (16th century). Another imperial city you will also visit is Meknes, being the previous capital of the Alaouit dynasty (17th century); in addition to the current capital of the kingdome: Rabat. Finally, you will get to discover many more interesting cities and cites along the way, such as Chefchaouen, Assilah and Tetouan. 10 Days Morocco Travel 

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 : Casablanca-Rabat

Once you land in the Casablanca airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a representative of ours. You may explore Casablanca for a little bit if you’re not too tired, then we will head straight to Rabat. Once we get there, you will be able to discover all of the main historical monuments of the city, such as the Mohammed V mausoleum, the Kasbah of Oudaya and the Hassan Tower. Finally, we will spend the night in a Riad in the Old Medina.

Day 2 : Rabat-Assilah

This next day we will have breakfast at the Riad, after which we will start driving towards Assilah through the Atlantic coast. It is necessary that make some stops on the way, for it would be a shame to miss all the beauty offered by the scenery. We will get there by the afternoon, then we will check in the Riad where we will be staying before going on to explore this little gem of a city. Assilah is a town very famous for all of the artistic influences it holds, which you will notice while walking through its streets and passages. This makes it a perfect place for you to witness the Moroccan creativity and the culture. As the sun starts to set, we will make sure to find a spot that offers a panoramic view over the Old Medina and the Atlantic Ocean. We will spend the night in a traditional Riad at the heart of the Old Medina.

Day 3 : Asilah-Tetouan

After having breakfast, we will leave Assilah and start driving in the highway in the direction of the city of Tetouan, reaching it at around noon. The city has a very dominant Andalusian vibe to it, going back to the fact that Tetouan was morednized and rebuilt by Andalusian emigrants. However, next to all the Andalusian influence in architecture and arts, there also lies the traditional Moroccan Old Medina in the middle of the city, which is considered a UNESCO world heritage. After we are done exploring the city, we will drive by to the nearby beautiful town of Fnideq where you can sit and relax at a café by the coast. Lastly, we will return to Tetouan where we will spend the night.

Day 4 : Tetouan-Chefchaouen

The town Chefchaouen is about a 2 hours drive away from Tetouan, driving by the breathtaking Riff Mountains. Chefchaouen is known as The Blue Pearl, and it has gained this name for the bright and vibrant blue color that its walls and buildings are painted with. You’ll get to walk around the city, discovering its uniqueness and beauty. You also wouldn’t want to miss trying out the bio goat cheese that the town is famous for. Finally, we will spend the night in Chefchaouen.

Day 5: Chefhouaen- Riif Mountains-Volubilis-Meknes

Our destination for this next day would be the city of Meknes, but on our way we will meet the town of Ouazen and Volubilis. Volubilis is a site of ruins belonging to the Ancient Roman Empire, dating as far back as the 3rd century BC. This location contains some very well preserved archeological material, most notably the mosaic masterpieces. A short drive later, we will finally reach Meknes, the Ismaili capital. The city is given this name for being the old capital of the king Moulay Ismail during the 17th century. In Meknes, you will visit the most important attractions such as Saht Lhdim, which is a mini version of Jama Lfna. There’s also the gate of Bab Mnsour, Sahrij Souani basin, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. Then we will spend the night at a Riad in the Old Medina.

Day 6: To Fes-Exploring Fes with the local guide

We will leave Meknes headed in the direction of the city of Fez which we will reach after about 50 minutes. Once we get there, we will begin our tour of the city by walking around the streets and alleyways of the Old Medina, then we will visit the impressive gates of the royal palace, and what is considered to be the first Mellah to be built in Morocco. After that, we will go walk around the Attarin Souk, where you will find all sorts of artisanal products on display. After we are done with that, we will leave the Souk through the Bab Boujeloud gate which is in itself a stunning masterpiece of Moroccan craftsmanship. Following this, we will pay a visit to the Dar Albatha museum, known for its unique display of traditional Moroccan arts. We may have a typical Moroccan lunch at a restaurant in the Medina if you would like, after which we will spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the new parts of the city. As for the overnight accommodations, they will be in Fez.

Day 7: Explore Fes by yourself

No trip to Fez would be complete without a little freestyle unguided tour! Today you will be free to wander around and get lost as you please in this vast and truly unique city.

Day 8: Fes-Marrakesh

Today we will start our road trip towards Marrakech right after breakfast, reaching it in the late afternoon. You will enjoy your day here exploring the world famous Jamaa El Fna square, with all of its different sorts of entertainers. Be prepared to find snake charmers, musicians, storytellers and an abundance of stalls for foods and drinks. You will be provided with overnight accommodation in a Riad in the old Medina.

Day 9 : Explore Marrakesh:

This day will be entirely spent touring the city of Marrakech. You will be accompanied by a local tour guide, which will allow you to discover all of the places worth visiting. The tour includes, but is not limited to: the Koutoubia Minaret, Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, the Dar Si Said Museum and the Majorelle Gardens. Finally, you will spend the night in the same Riad as the night before.  10 Days Morocco Travel
