Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech- Essaouira
Once you arrive in Morocco, you will be met with a member of our staff to pick you up, that’s where our trip will start. We will head towards Essaouira which is less than three hours away from Marrakech. You will get to visit this magical city to enjoy its golden beaches and coastline, as well as all the local seafood cuisine it offers. Essaouira has a very unique and interesting vibe to it because of all the Portuguese, French and Berber influences that are present in its architecture. You will definitely get to enjoy that as well, while wandering around the city or relaxing at a local café. You will have dinner and spend the night at a hotel in the old Medina. 11 days from Marrakech
Day 2: Essaouira – Al Jadida – Casablanca
Today we will leave Essaouira in the direction of Casablanca. On our way there, we will stop at the town of Al Jadida in order to have lunch, before finally arriving at the economical capital of Morocco, Casablanca. We will get there in the afternoon, and you will be provided with dinner and an overnight stay in a hotel.
Day 3: Casablanca – Rabat – Chefchaouen
We will breakfast then get ready to visit the Hassan II mosque, which is known for being the second largest mosque in all of Africa, and one of the biggest in the world. Then we will head towards Rabat, the current capital of the kingdom where the king resides. You will get to explore this beautiful city and have lunch, before we resume our trip in the direction of Chefchaouen. We will have dinner and spend the night at a traditional Riad in Chefchaouen.
Day 4: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes
We will have breakfast then directly begin driving through the Rif mountains and villages such as Ouazan. We will then reach Volubilis, which is a site of ruins belonging to the Ancient Roman Empire, dating as far back as the 3rd century BC. This location contains some very well preserved archeological material, most notably the mosaic masterpieces. Finally, we will continue driving towards Meknes, the Ismaili capital. The city was given this name for being the old capital of the king Moulay Ismail during the 17th century. In Meknes, you will visit the most important attractions such as Saht Lhdim, which is a mini version of Jama Lfna. There’s also the gate of Bab Mnsour, Sahrij Souani basin, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. Then we will have dinner and spend the night at a Riad in the Old Medina.
Day 5: Meknes – Fes – Sightseeingtour with a local guide
We will leave Meknes headed in the direction of the city of Fez which we will reach after about 50 minutes. Once we get there, we will begin our tour of the city by walking around the streets and alleyways of the Old Medina, then we will visit the impressive gates of the royal palace, and what is considered to be the first Mellah to be built in Morocco. After that, we will go walk around the Attarin Souk, where you will find all sorts of artisanal products on display. After we are done with that, we will leave the Souk through the Bab Boujeloud gate which is in itself a stunning masterpiece of Moroccan craftsmanship. Following this, we will pay a visit to the Dar Albatha museum, known for its unique display of traditional Moroccan arts. We may have a typical Moroccan lunch at a restaurant in the Medina if you would like, after which we will spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the new parts of the city. As for dinner and the overnight accommodations, they will be in a Riad in Fez.
Day 6: Fes – Midelt – Azrou – Ziz-Tal – Erfoud
Today we will start heading south on our journey to the Sahara desert. But first, we will go through the Middle Atlas region where we will meet the town of Ifrane (known for its unique weather and Ski resorts), the Azrou cedar forests (populated by wild Macaque monkeys), the town of Zaida where we will have lunch. After enjoying the fascinating sights of the Atlas Mountains through Midelt and rich, we will meet Erfoud where the landscape will start turning into a more Saharian atmosphere. When we finally reach the Tafilalet Oasis, we will call it a day and spend the night in a local hotel.
Day 7: Erfoud – Rissani – Wüstennomaden – Khamlia – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi – night in the bivouac
Today is a special day because it will be full of desert adventures. The first one of those will be a drive through the desert dunes in 4×4 vehicles, through which you will get to explore the volcanic fossil rocks. After that we will try and find a nomad family, so that you can chat with them and learn more about their way of life. Next up we will stop by the village of Khamlia, where you can watch some live spiritual Gnaoua music playing. Our last activity for this morning will be a visit to the seasonal Serji lake, that attracts all sorts of wildlife and migrating birds, including the Pink Flamingo. Then it’s time for a lunch break in the nearby Rissani town, after which we will go back to our hotel in order to get a chance to rest and shower for a little bit. Towards the late afternoon, we will start our camel trekking ride, in which you will get to ride on the back of a camel through the desert dunes. The camels will take us to the desert camp where we will spend an unforgettable night sleeping in Nomad tents, under the clear starry night sky.
Day 8: Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Tinghir – Todra-Gorge – Dades-Gorge
We will wake up early today in order to enjoy the magnificent desert sunrise. We will then ride the camels back to the hotel to get a chance to have breakfast and shower. After that, we will begin our tour towards the Dades Valley, driving by many desert towns along the way (such as Erfoud, Jorf, Touroug, Tinjdad and Tinghir). We will stop at the breathtaking Todra gorges for lunch, after which you can explore this location for a bit. Finally, we will reach the Dades valley after a few more stops on the way, and this is where we will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 9: Dades-Gorge – Valley of Roses – Ouarzazate – Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou – Tiz´n´Tichka – Marrakech
We will start our day by leaving the gorges of Dades in the direction of Ouarzazate city. On our way there we will drive by the beautiful Valley of Roses, the historical Amridil Kasbah next to Skoura, then the world famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. Ait Ben Haddou is a recognized UNESCO world heritage site, and many big movie directors have chosen it over the years as a filming location for international movies such as The Mummy, Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator… etc. We will have lunch in the Kasbah, then we will start driving towards our final destination of this trip: the city of Marrakech. We will get there in the early evening, after driving through the Tizin Tichka pass located in the heart of the High Alas Mountains. We will have dinner and spend the night at a local Riad.
Day 10: Marrakech – Sightseeing tour with a local guide
This day will be entirely spent touring the city of Marrakech. You will be accompanied by a local tour guide, which will allow you to discover all of the places worth visiting. The tour includes, but is not limited to: the Koutoubia Minaret, Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, the Dar Si Said Museum and the Majorelle Gardens. You will also spend some time exploring the world famous Jamaa El Fna square, with all of its different sorts of entertainers. Be prepared to find snake charmers, musicians, storytellers and an abundance of stalls for foods and drinks. Finally, you will be provided with overnight accommodation in the same Riad as the night before.
Day 11: Marrakech – transfer to the airport
For the last day of our trip, you might want to do some last minute shopping for souvenirs, or simply walk around the streets of Marrakech. Your transfer to the airport will be arranged according to your flight schedule, and this marks the end of our services.
